Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the sports world had expressed sympathy for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
