Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
