The Miami Heat scored eighty-six opening half points versus the Grizzlies

Miami Heat secured a crushing 146-114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in their first NBA match since guard Rozier was arrested for alleged illegal sports betting.

Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was also arrested in connection with a broad FBI investigation into illegal gambling. Both men contest the allegations.

However, the Heat were not distracted as they put up 86 opening half points to lead the Grizzlies by 39 after two quarters, the biggest halftime lead in the team's 37 year history.

Adebayo led the way with 24 scores and afterwards stated Rozier had the support of the team.

The Trail Blazers additionally secured their first game after the detentions, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter stepping in as temporary head coach in Chauncey's absence and guiding the squad to a decisive 139-119 victory against the Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Chauncey and his coaching style," Splitter said. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but our focus is on the game."

League Commissioner Adam Silver 'Upset' over Recent Events

Speaking about the arrests for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated he was "very upset" by the events of the recent days.

"There's nothing more important to the NBA and supporters than the integrity of the competition," he informed Amazon Prime. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."

Silver also said an NBA investigation into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a match he played for the Hornets versus the Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"We were informed by the authorities and the gambling firms," he added.

"We then looked into that situation and were open about it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has subpoena power... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the NBA is unable to.

"Therefore, we've been working with them since then. And, of course, what they announced recently was an indictment.

"And 30 months after, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Terry.

"Obviously, it appears unfavorable, but he's been suspended, and so it is a compromise here between upholding rights and investigating."

From Greece forward Giannis Antetokounmpo additionally had a big night with thirty-one scores, twenty boards and 7 assists in the Bucks' 122 to 116 win over the Raptors.

Houston Rockets were beaten 115 to 111 by the Detroit Pistons despite 37 scores from Kevin Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had twenty-nine points, eleven boards and nine blocks in the San Antonio Spurs' extra-time victory against the Pelicans.
