Preview this Remastered Classic Adventure: This Free Trial for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Lands Shortly.

Enthusiasts looking forward to the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start too much longer. A highly anticipated playable preview is set to become available on January 7th, offering a generous taste into the game's opening hours. Notably, all advancement earned within this demo will be able to be imported directly into the full game upon its eventual debut.

More Than a Simple Remake: A Complete Reimagining

This project represents a from-scratch re-envisioning of the landmark year 2000 RPG, first known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a notable departure from other series re-releases, such as the previously launched HD-2D iterations, this version utilizes a charming three-dimensional visual presentation. Environments have been crafted to evoke detailed dioramas, with characters featuring a whimsical stylized design.

"Taking into account the 3DS version, the main quest was still quite extended. Consequently, the team came to a determination that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] make this adventure for today's gamers."

Significant Gameplay Changes & Updates

The creators have added several enhancements to update the original gameplay loop. These include:

  • Streamlined Field Battles: Inspired by contemporary RPGs, weaker enemies are now dispatched directly on the overworld map without entering a separate traditional battle sequence.
  • Adjustable Battle Pace: Gamers have the option to accelerate combat animations to quickly get past less challenging fights.
  • New Vocation Mechanics: A completely new job class was created for this reimagining. Additionally, characters now have the ability to take on a second job, significantly expanding customization options.

These alterations are aimed at tackle a key the original game's frequent points of feedback: its daunting playtime. That original storyline could easily take over 100 hours to finish. This new version was expressly reworked to refine flow and reduce any bloat.
